Nec 660 Printer Driver Support

Need help getting Windows XP Home to recognize the subject NEC 660 printer (NEC Silentwriter SuperScript 660 Windows XP Driver - LPT to USB converter) .. which is attached to a USB port of a ShuttleX system, running Windows XP Home and the ltp port on the NEC has a USB to IEEE-1284 Bridge Cable converter to make it work through the USB port. Ready light on, lpt1 port configured as EPP+ECP with DMA assignment, etc. Printer light is on yet can't ever get the printer to work. Any ideas?
